Dorin Recean meets the President of Portugal: Boosting trade and investment relations, among the topics discussed
The opportunities for boosting commercial-economic and investment relations between the Republic of Moldova and Portugal were discussed during the meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean with the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
The officials also discussed the possibilities of developing commercial relations and identifying new ways of partnerships and investments, in areas such as renewable energy and energy efficiency, IT and the modernization of transport infrastructure, reads a press release of the Government.
"The Republic of Moldova has talent and creativity, but it needs investments. The priority areas of development of our country are infrastructure, renewable energy, agricultural industrialization, economic digitization. We understand that economic development is essential for increasing the well-being of citizens and strengthening democracy", said Dorin Recean.
During the discussions, the officials appreciated the organization of the Business Forum today in Chisinau, hosted by the Investment Agency of the Republic of Moldova. Portuguese companies operating in the area are expected at the event to learn about development opportunities in the Republic of Moldova. On the sidelines of this forum, a memorandum of understanding will be signed between investment agencies from the Republic of Moldova and Portugal. The officials also referred to the European course of our country and the opportunities offered by the process of joining the European Union, including by opening new markets for exports.
President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa reconfirmed Portugal's support for the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova and for boosting friendly relations between our countries.
"The Republic of Moldova is a state that fights for democracy, human rights, peace and sovereignty, and the Portuguese Republic supports you in this noble goal. Democracy needs sustainable development and social justice, we are at your disposal to share our country's experience in the EU accession process", said the Portuguese president.
We mention that the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, is on an official visit to the Republic of Moldova, on October 30-31, at the invitation of President Maia Sandu.
