Promo-LEX observers report over 800 incidents during local elections in the Republic of Moldova

Corruption of voters, cases of campaigning near the polling stations, photographing of ballots, as well as irregularities in the electoral lists, are cases reported by Promo-LEX observers throughout Sunday.

According to the Program Director of the Observation Mission, Nicolae Panfil, in total over 800 incidents were reported, a double number compared to the 2019 election.

"There were 107 cases when the polling stations opened either early or late, 58 cases of unauthorized presence of unauthorized persons in the premises or within the radius of the polling station, 128 cases of photographing ballots or other violations of the secrecy of the vote. Also, in seven cases we found various rumors, attempts or situations of material monetary rewards offered to voters, as well as in 22 cases we saw electoral campaigning or black PR. With reference to the organized transport of voters, we found 7 cases", said the program director of Promo-LEX.

Nicolae Panfil emphasized that the vote counting process was correct, without incidents, and the observers had access to all minutes. The Program Director said that, according to preliminary data, the second round will most likely not take place in Chisinau.

We remind you that more than 1,500 national and international observers were accredited to monitor the general local elections that took place yesterday in the Republic of Moldova.
