Nicu Popescu leaves for Brussels: the European Commission will present the EU Enlargement Report
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, leaves for Brussels, in the context in which the European Commission will present the European Union Enlargement Report.
"For the first time, this report will include an analysis of developments in the Republic of Moldova, and we are betting that we will get the recommendation to start accession negotiations. During the visit, I will have bilateral meetings with European officials with whom I will discuss the advancement of our country's accession process to the European Union and about the substantial progress that our country has managed to register in the last year and a half", the minister wrote on a social network.
Today, November 8, the European Commission will publish the Enlargement Report, which, for the first time, will also contain the evaluation of the progress of the Republic of Moldova.
The Commission's report is largely positive and encouraging, and Chisinau has made progress in 6 of the 9 areas in which it was told what is expected of a candidate country, but the Brussels Commission's experts have taken the precaution of covering up their positive conclusions through this repetitive formula: the Republic of Moldova "has some level of preparation", Radio Moldova reporter Dan Alexe reports from Brussels.
We remind that the National Actions Plan for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union for 2024-2027, approved by the Government on October 27, contains about 1,200 concrete actions or laws to be implemented together with the process of accession to the community bloc.
