Head of the Border Police Rosian Vasiloi resigned. The request, approved by the Government

The head of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, Rosian Vasiloi, has resigned. In today's meeting, the government approved his resignation request.

"It is proposed to terminate the position of head of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs by Rosian Vasiloi from November 8, 2023, based on the resignation request", said the Minister of the Interior, Adrian Efros. Rosian Vasiloi reacted to the resignation from the position of head of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police. In a message posted on Facebook, Vasiloi writes that he led the institution during a difficult period in which he faced challenges.

"It was an honor to lead the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova. It was a difficult period, the most difficult in the history of the Republic of Moldova, but in which the institution I led faced the challenges. I want to thank the team for their dedication and professionalism. I thank the colleagues from the internal affairs system and from the national defense and security system with whom I have worked during this time together. Last but not least, I thank our partners who contribute to the unprecedented institutional development of the Border Police. I worked for the interest of the country and the citizen", wrote Rosian Vasiloi.

Rosian Vasiloi resigned after the second resounding case produced in the border area of the Republic of Moldova. On Sunday, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan illegally left the territory of Chisinau International Airport. He had come from Turkey and intended to reach Ukraine. The man was caught two days later and was removed from the territory of the Republic of Moldova. Also, Prime Minister Dorin Recean declared that "this happened because those security measures were delayed and a resignation will follow very soon".

On June 30, a border policeman and an officer of the airport security service were fatally shot by a citizen of Tajikistan who was denied entry to the Republic of Moldova.

Following the armed attack at the Airport, a criminal case for negligence of duty was initiated on Vasiloi's behalf. Rosian Vasiloi held the position of head of the IGPF since August 2021.
