The European Commission allocates 10 million euros to support Ukrainian refugees and host communities in the Republic of Moldova. The money is part of a humanitarian aid package intended for Ukraine, totaling 110 million euros. According to a statement from the European Executive, this new funding "will help the EU's humanitarian partners to provide essential services such as cash assistance, food, water, shelter, healthcare, psychosocial support and protection".

"As Russia's war against Ukraine continues, the humanitarian situation in the country remains dire. The onset of winter continues to pose challenges to the already vulnerable communities affected by the war", informs the European Commission.

According to the institution, since February 2022, when Russia started the war in Ukraine, the European Commission has allocated 843 million euros for humanitarian aid programs. Of this amount, 785 million euros were allocated to Ukraine, and 58 million euros to refugees who fled the war in the Republic of Moldova.
