NATO Military Committee, convened in Brussels. The evolution of the war in Ukraine - on the agenda for discussions

NATO's Military Committee meets, on January 18 and 19, in Brussels, to analyse the evolution of the military invasion of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, started in February last year.

Consisting of the chiefs of staff of the armies of the 30 NATO member countries and led by the Dutchman Rob Bauer, the Military Committee of the Alliance will discuss the support it offers to Ukraine and challenges such as defence operations against hybrid threats or digital transformation, said the Alliance in a press release, quoted by Agerpres.

LNATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will also attend the January 18-19 meeting, and the Chiefs of Staff from Finland and Sweden, future Alliance member countries, will also take part as guests.

The second day of the meeting (January 19) will examine the situation on the ground in Kosovo - following recent tensions between the Kosovo Serbs and the authorities in Pristina - during a meeting with KFOR, the NATO-led mission to ensure stability in Kosovo.

Moldova 1 recalls that the Secretary General of NATO said on Sunday, in an interview with the BBC, that Western countries must be prepared to provide Ukraine with support in the context in which Russia shows no signs of giving up its intentions. According to Jens Stoltenberg, military support will ensure Ukraine's survival as a sovereign country and force Russia to negotiate an end to the war.
