Promo-LEX observers found several electoral violations during the second round of local elections

Electoral agitation, the unjustified presence of unauthorized persons in the polling stations or within their radius, as well as the violation of the vote secrecy were among the violations detected until 10:00 a.m. by Promo-LEX observers. 21 of the 27 incidents have already been processed, Promo-LEX program director Nicolae Panfil informed in a press conference.

"In about 3 percent of the cases reported by observers, or six polling stations were opened with an insignificant delay of up to 10 minutes. In four cases, the video camera has not been activated since the start of the electoral operations regarding the opening of the polling stations. In about 29% of cases, the solemnity of the voting process was not ensured by the intonation of the National Anthem and by the flag displaying at the opening of polling stations. These are new provisions of the Electoral Code. Observers also found that in about 35 percent of polling stations, 78 in number, there is no heating”, said Nicolae Panfil.

Incidents reported by observers include:

„By 08:30, electricity supply was restored. So, the voting process was not suspended”, said Nicola Panfil.

According to him, Promo-LEX observers are present in 175 of the total number of polling stations, and during the day, 445 more sections will be covered by the 50 available mobile teams that are in the territory.

We mention that today, the second round of the general local elections is taking place in those 273 localities from the Republic of Moldova, where in the first round none of the candidates for the position of mayor received more than half of the valid votes cast. At the same time, repeated elections are held in eight localities.
