France backs the European integration of the Republic of Moldova. Maia Sandu talked with the Secretary General for European Affairs from the French government
France declares its support for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova. The position of the authorities in Paris regarding the Republic of Moldova was reiterated in Chisinau by the Secretary General for European Affairs from the French government, Emmanuel Puisais-Jauvin, at the meeting with President Maia Sandu. The discussions took place before the European Council summit in Brussels, which is to take a decision on the initiation of accession negotiations to the European Union with the Republic of Moldova.
According to the presidential institution, the head of state discussed the next steps in the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the EU, together with the publication of the Expansion Package for 2023 by the European Commission.
"There is a period ahead where the EU member states will debate the Commission's conclusions and recommendations before the European Council meeting, which will take place on December 14-15 in Brussels. France is an EU member state that supports our European path, and helps to strengthen our democratic processes and contributes significantly to the modernization of the Republic of Moldova, by projects in key sectors such as energy, economy and security", said Maia Sandu.
The President emphasized that the structural reforms carried out by the Chisinau authorities are aimed at raising the standard of living in the Republic of Moldova and strengthening public institutions.
In the last two years the relations between the Republic of Moldova and France experienced an upward development, Chisinau being visited repeatedly by the French President Emmanuel M President Maia Sandu also made official visits to Paris and had several meetings with French officials during events of international importance.
France, along with Romania and Germany, initiated the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova.
