Jerusalem bus stop shooting leaves two dead, eight injured
Two people were killed and eight other people were injured in a shooting attack at a bus stop in Jerusalem on Thursday morning, Israeli ambulance service Magen David Adom said, cited by Reuters.
In a statement, MDA said that the attack took place at the entrance to the city, near the Ramat Eshkol neighbourhood.
"We received a call about a shooting attack at a bus stop near the entrance to Jerusalem," MDA said. "We dispatched a large number of ambulances to the scene and are currently treating the injured."
The Israeli police said that two terrorists arrived at the scene in a vehicle and opened fire on civilians at the bus stop. The terrorists were "neutralised" by security forces and a civilian who was nearby, the police said.
"We are currently searching the area to ensure that there are no other attackers," the police said.
The US ambassador to Israel condemned the shootings.
"A despicable terrorist attack in Jerusalem this morning," Ambassador Jack Lew said in a statement. "We unequivocally condemn such brutal violence," according to Reuters.
