Citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, more popular after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine
In 2022, in the context of the events in Ukraine, there was a significant increase in the number of people who applied to obtain the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova. According to the data presented by the Public Services Agency (ASP), last year the number of applications for citizenship reached about 10,700, or by 3,600 applications more than the previous year.
Following this increase, the decision was made that people should have the opportunity to apply for the acquisition and reacquisition of the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova at all the multifunctional centers in the country and in the municipality of Chisinau. Previously, in the municipality of Chisinau, applications could only be submitted to the Citizenship Section of the Public Services Agency. Thus, starting from January 3, the multifunctional centers in the municipality of Chisinau provide the full spectrum of citizenship services.
