Moldova President convenes mayors' forum on European Integration
President Maia Sandu of Moldova announced the convening of a mayors' forum to discuss the opportunities associated with European integration. The forum will be held on December 9, 2023, in Chișinău.
In her statement, President Sandu called on mayors to collaborate with the central government to build a prosperous and European Moldova. "Dear elected mayors, the next four years will depend on you on how our communities develop," Sandu said. "People have given you their trust and support, placing their hopes in the fact that you will work to build villages and cities where we will like to live and be proud of. I want to discuss how we can do these things together. I invite you and I await you at the Mayors' Forum, organised on December 9, to lay the foundation for a collaboration that is beneficial for all citizens."
The president emphasised the importance of strong communities and improved living conditions at home. "You, the local elected officials, are on the front line in terms of the needs of the residents," Sandu said. "You listen to them every day and it is on your shoulders that the fulfilment of the most urgent and natural things rests - water for everyone, safe transportation, modern kindergartens and schools, well-appointed villages and cities. Only together - the central administration and the local administration - will we be able to meet these requirements and improve the lives of all Moldovans.
