The Romanian official assured that Romania will stand by Ukraine until victory against Russia and urged the American authorities to pay special attention to the Republic of Moldova, which is "the most vulnerable country after Ukraine".
"Romania was and will be with Ukraine until it wins against the Russian Federation. Romania learned its lesson regarding Russia a long time ago. We know the Russian people and the system of aggression. That is why, apart from the partnership you have with Romania, we ask that we always have the Republic of Moldova in mind. It is the most vulnerable country in Europe after Ukraine, where there is an armed conflict, and in the Republic of Moldova there is a conflict and a hybrid war over President Maia Sandu and a democratic government," Marcel Ciolacu told Antony Blinken. Blinken said at the beginning of the meeting with Ciolacu and the ministers accompanying him on his visit to the US that "Romania is and has been a very close partner and a very valuable ally and we work very closely together on some of the most important challenges of our time", said Marcel Ciolacu, quoted by Digi24.ro.
Antony Blinken emphasized Romania's critical role in ensuring Ukraine's defense capabilities and grain export.
"We are grateful to Romania for the help given to Ukraine and for the cooperation in the Black Sea. Our countries also cooperate closely in civil matters, we will collaborate very closely in the future as well, and the effects will be seen in the progress to come," said the US Secretary of State.
The US Secretary of State emphasized that the US's strategic partnership with Romania is getting stronger.
Regarding the inclusion in the Visa Waiver program, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu emphasized that Romania counts on the support of the US Congress in this regard, and the signals of support coming from some important members of this forum are able to motivate Romania to fulfill future necessary conditions.
