Measles epidemic in Romania. The Ministry of Health announces about 2,000 registered cases

The Ministry of Health of the Government of Romania has declared a national measles epidemic after 2,000 cases were registered in 29 counties. The Bucharest authorities announce the launch of an information campaign for parents.

"Given the alarming increase in measles cases, as well as the large number of hospitalizations in the pediatric and infectious disease wards of infected children, the Ministry of Health has declared a measles epidemic at national level, to make it possible to vaccinate children aged between 9 and 11 months, as well as the recovery of those unvaccinated or with an incomplete vaccination schedule", announced the Ministry of Health from Bucharest, quoted by News.ro.

The Ministry of Health said that at the moment, almost 2,000 cases are registered nationally, in 29 counties.

Also, the Ministry of Health will run an information campaign for parents, together with family doctors, for better adherence to the vaccination program.

Measles is an infectious disease that is easily transmitted, especially in unvaccinated children, and sometimes the evolution is serious with complications.
