The situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, on the agenda of the G7 Meeting

The G7 leaders will "discuss topics important to the international community, such as the situations in Ukraine and the Middle East," and will also have an exchange of views on artificial intelligence.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is to participate in the start of a teleconference between the leaders of the G7 countries on Wednesday, Japanese government spokesman Hirokazu Matsuno said, quoted by AFP.

On Tuesday, Volodymyr Zelenskiy unexpectedly canceled a planned appearance before the US Congress, where negotiations are strained over new US funds to help Ukraine in its war against Russia.

This teleconference will be held under the auspices of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, the spokesman explained, as Japan holds the rotating presidency of the G7 this year.

President "Zelenski will attend the start" of this online summit.
