Man arrested for blackmailing student with nude video
A 33-year-old man was apprehended on Thursday for blackmailing a 19-year-old student from Chisinau with a compromising video.
The suspect reportedly approached the victim on social media, offering her 100 euros to engage in sexually explicit video chats. When she declined, he threatened to release the video to her friends and family.
Police report that the man instructed the student to board a bus bound for Nisporeni, where he planned to meet her. Unbeknownst to him, the victim had already filed a police report, leading to his movements being monitored by authorities.
Upon seeing officers approaching his car, the suspect attempted to flee the scene, resulting in a high-speed chase. The chase culminated in the man crashing his vehicle into a concrete electricity pole in a village near Straseni.
Confronted at the police station, the suspect admitted to blackmailing the student, claiming he found the nude video online.
A search of the man's residence yielded two laptops and a mobile phone, containing evidence relevant to the case. Police are actively gathering further evidence to support their request for a 30-day pre-trial detention order.
