Fake school threats spark police action in Moldova
Moldovan authorities have called for calm after alarming messages targeting educational institutions in the capital surfaced on an anonymous Telegram channel. The Police have condemned the act as a "hybrid attack" designed to incite fear and confusion among citizens.
"All relevant state institutions have taken immediate action and initiated appropriate measures to address the situation," a Police statement declared. The statement further emphasised that the photos of weapons and ammunition displayed on the channel were "old and taken from social media," dispelling any immediate danger.
An investigation is currently underway to identify the individuals responsible for the channel and their motivations.
