French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday reaffirmed his government's support for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union (EU), on the eve of the European Council on December 14 and 15, which will address both this accession candidacy and that of Ukraine, reports EFE.
In a phone conversation, Macron conveyed his "full support" for European integration to the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, according to a press release issued by the Elysee Palace.

Macron also declared himself "fully willing" to strengthen "administrative cooperation" between the two countries, placing "seconded experts at the disposal of the Republic of Moldova to help drive the ongoing reforms".
"Finally, (the two heads of state) referred to the excellent bilateral relations between France and the Republic of Moldova, especially in the economic, cultural and defense fields", informed the Elysee.
The statement also mentions that during the last French presidency of the Council of the European Union, Macron contributed significantly to obtaining the status of candidate for accession of the Republic of Moldova, in June 2022.
