VIDEO// Christmas lights were turned on at Vatican
The lights of the famous Vatican tree were lit last night in Saint Peter's Square. Also yesterday, the Nativity scene was revealed to the public. This year's manger was made to remember the Christmas of 1223 in the Rieti Valley, where Saint Francis stayed. There he created the first Nativity scene.
The tree, 25 meters high, was decorated with cornflowers, so that those in the mountain area would be protected, according to observatorulnews.ro.
Shortly before the lighting of the lights, Pope Francis received the delegations of the Italian regions that offered the gift of the manger and the Christmas tree.
