During the meeting, President Biden will reiterate the "unwavering commitment" of the United States to supporting Ukraine's defence against the Russian invasion, according to a White House statement. The statement further emphasises that the leaders will discuss "Ukraine's urgent needs" and the* "vital importance of continuing U.S. support at this critical moment."*

Zelensky's visit to the United States comes amidst ongoing concerns about the dwindling U.S. aid to Ukraine. The U.S. Senate recently failed to pass a new $60 billion defence aid package for Ukraine, with Republicans linking further support to measures aimed at securing the U.S. southern border.

In a statement, Zelensky's office outlined the main topics of discussion during the visit, including "the continuation of defence cooperation between Ukraine and the United States, in particular joint projects for the production of weapons and air defence systems, as well as coordination of efforts between the countries in 2024."
