Moldova's path to EU membership: Romania pledges continued support
In a phone call with Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean on Tuesday, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu underscored Romania's unwavering support for Moldova's European integration aspirations.
Ciolacu emphasised Romania's active role in advocating for Moldova's accession to the European Union, particularly in the lead-up to the critical European Council meeting this week. "The Romanian government remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting Moldova's European journey and will serve as a reliable partner throughout the accession process," Ciolacu declared.
The two prime ministers also engaged in discussions regarding ongoing bilateral cooperation initiatives, focusing on critical areas like cross-border energy infrastructure development and Romanian financial assistance programs designed to bolster Moldova's economic and social development.
Prime Minister Ciolacu's unwavering commitment to Moldova's European aspirations reflects the growing consensus within the European Union and the European Parliament in favour of Moldova's membership. As anticipation for the European Council's decision mounts, optimism remains high for a positive outcome for Moldova's EU ambitions.
