We remind you that several people were killed and injured in an armed incident near a university located in the center of the Czech capital Prague,
The attacker who opened fire on Thursday at the Karolina University in Prague and killed at least 15 people was a student at the Faculty of Arts in the same institution, the BBC reports. He was 24 years old and lived in a village 21 kilometers from the Czech capital.
According to the Czech authorities, the attacker was allegedly inspired by similar massacres that happened abroad. Today's mass attack is not related to international terrorism, Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan said. After committing the massacre, the attacker was found dead at the university's Faculty of Arts. His father was found dead today, the police announced.
Police Chief Martin Vondrášek told a news conference that there were more than 15 dead and 24 injured, but that these may not be the final numbers. The perpetrator of the attack was inspired by similar armed attacks abroad, the police chief said. According to the Czech police, there is no indication of a terrorist attack.
Czech media claim that unverified footage of the killer announcing his intentions to kill has surfaced on the Telegram social media app.
The body of the armed man was found at the university, the police chief said.
According to the Czech portal Seznamzpravy.cz, on December 9, an account was created on Telegram with the name David Kozák. The student with this name is associated with the massacre at the Faculty of Arts in Prague.
"This will be my diary about how I will launch an armed attack on the school," the author wrote in Russian in the first post. He said he was inspired by Alina Afanaskinova, the perpetrator of the Bryansk school massacre that killed two people and injured seven others in early December. He added that he also wanted to kill himself.
"I always wanted to kill, I thought I would become a maniac in the future," the student added. In another post, he wrote that he feels ugly, hates the whole world and wants to cause as much pain as possible.
The last post is from December 19, when the suspect wrote about an unbearable ringing in the ears. At least 15 people were killed in the armed attack at the Carolina University in Prague, informs Digi.24.RO.
