Moldova holiday travel: Consider alternate crossings

Anticipating a significant influx of travellers during the winter holidays, Moldovan authorities urge passengers to consider alternative border crossings to expedite their journeys.

Leușeni, Sculeni, and Palanca crossings are experiencing increased traffic, prompting the Border Guard Service to advocate for wider utilisation of available entry points.

"To minimise border waiting times during this peak season, we encourage citizens to explore all operational border crossings," stated the Moldovan Border Guard Service. "Options near the busiest Leușeni-Albița crossing include Leova-Bumbăta, while alternatives near Sculeni are Costești-Stânca and Lipcani-Rădăuți Prut. In the vicinity of Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe, travellers can utilise Tudora-Starokazacie," the service outlined.

Further addressing congestion at the Leușeni-Albița entry point, the Border Guard Service confirmed the deployment of additional personnel and the opening of supplementary control lanes. Notably, traffic flow is being redirected to lanes in the opposite direction of travel to optimise movement.

"Historically, we observe a rise in border crossings during the winter holidays," acknowledged the Moldovan Border Police, attributing the current surge to seasonal travel patterns.

Travellers planning to enter Moldova through Leușeni, Sculeni, or Palanca are advised to monitor official reports and consider utilising alternative border crossings, particularly during peak travel hours, to facilitate their entry into the country.
