Moldova prioritises formal employment, expands family support programs
The Moldovan Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MLSP) is ramping up efforts to formalise the nation's workforce, emphasising the mutual benefits for individuals and the state.
Addressing the significant presence of informal employment, estimated at around 180,000 individuals, Minister Alexei Buzu underscored the importance of registered work:
"Formal employment guarantees essential rights and protections for our citizens," Buzu stated. "Our efforts prioritise creating opportunities for all segments of the population to participate formally in the labour market, ensuring access to crucial benefits like healthcare and unemployment insurance."
The MLSP campaign highlights the advantages of registered work, including access to social security contributions and associated benefits. Recognizing the challenges faced by families, the government has announced increased financial support:
"We are implementing a new monthly stipend of 1,000 lei for families with children under two," declared PAS MP Marina Morozova. "Additionally, starting in January 2024, insured adoptive parents will be eligible for three new benefits, further strengthening our support for vulnerable populations."
These initiatives aim to address both immediate needs and long-term challenges, promoting a more robust and inclusive social safety net in Moldova.
