Increased security measures in Europe on New Year's Eve. France raises helicopters and drones

Europe prepares to welcome 2024 with increased security measures. Police officers will patrol through European capitals where very strict controls will be imposed. The authorities say that the measures were taken preventively to avoid incidents related to terrorism, especially in the context of the war between Israel and Hamas, reports Digi24.ro.

Thus, in Germany, at the Brandenburg Gate, where the fireworks will take place, strict security controls will be imposed, including an entrance fee of 10 euros. More than 90,000 police and gendarmes will also line the streets of French cities on Sunday to ensure a smooth transition into the new year. The French capital has raised its terror alert level to maximum amid the war between Israel and Hamas.

Italy will impose special security measures for New Year's Eve. The lighting of fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices will be prohibited in the historic center of Rome, as will the administration and sale of drinks and food in glass containers and boxes. The fine will reach 200 euros.
