The Republic of Moldova officially became a member of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism
The Republic of Moldova officially became a member of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism- a coordination initiative in situations of crisis and natural hazards. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Dorin Recean on his Facebook page.
According to the Prime Minister, currently, the firefighters and rescuers in our country will cooperate with those of the EU member states and 9 other participating countries to improve the prevention, preparation and response systems to natural and man-made disasters.
"Until becoming a full member, our country has already benefited from support through this mechanism. Since the start of Russia's brutal war against Ukraine, we have received 36 power generators for 30 hospitals, medical aid and food for Ukrainian refugees. Medical equipment was mobilized from the rescEU medical reserves and humanitarian projects supporting vulnerable refugees from Ukraine were financed", said Dorin Recean.
The PM said that participation in the Civil Protection Mechanism is part of the efforts of the Republic of Moldova to join the European Union, but also to increase the level of security and safety of Moldovan citizens.
