Chisinau airport delays: Ice causes takeoff halt
Several flights at Chisinau International Airport faced potential delays or cancellations on Monday, January 8th, due to heavy snowfall and challenging weather conditions.
Airport officials cited the inability to perform safe deicing procedures as the primary factor behind the disruptions.
"Strong lateral winds and heavy snowfall prevent us from adequately de-icing aircraft," the airport's statement explained. "De-icing is essential for flight safety, and therefore takeoffs are currently not permitted."
Passengers travelling through Chisinau are advised to check flight schedules in advance and prepare for potential delays or cancellations. While the airport hasn't released specific numbers regarding affected flights, they urge travellers to exercise caution and stay informed.
