Tree fall injures one during Chisinau sledding
A sledding accident in Chișinău's Botanica district on Monday afternoon sent one child to the hospital and left two others shaken but unharmed.
The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. in the courtyard of an apartment building on Hristo Botev Street. According to the Chisinau Police Department, a tree collapsed on three children enjoying a winter day of sledding.
"Police officers confirmed that three minors were injured when the tree fell, and one child sustained head and leg injuries requiring hospitalisation by ambulance," explained Natalia Stati, a press officer for the department. "Further circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation."
Authorities haven't yet determined the exact cause of the tree's fall, though unfavourable weather conditions are suspected to have played a role. The investigation remains ongoing.
This incident highlights the potential dangers associated with outdoor activities, particularly during adverse weather. Parents and guardians are advised to exercise caution and prioritise safety when allowing children to participate in winter sports.
