Romanian defender signs for Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have secured the signing of highly-rated Romanian defender Radu Drăgușin from Genoa-1893 for a club-record fee just shy of €30 million.
The 21-year-old, touted as one of Europe's rising talents, opted for the Premier League side despite interest from German giants Bayern Munich.
Drăgușin expressed his excitement for the new chapter: "It's a big move for me, but I feel I've made the right decision. My heart led me here." His arrival smashes the club's previous transfer record set in 2003 when the iconic Adrian Mutu arrived from AC Parma for €22.7 million.
Beyond the figures, Drăgușin promises unwavering dedication: "I can assure you I'll give everything for this team. It's a dream to play for a club like this, and I'll give my maximum on the pitch." His five-year contract will see him earn €4.8 million annually.
Drăgușin departed Genoa after 62 appearances, where he contributed six goals and an assist. His career also includes stints at Juventus, Sampdoria, and Salernitana. On the international stage, he has already made 13 appearances for Romania.
While Drăgușin's arrival represents a significant investment for Tottenham, his potential and Premier League aspirations have generated considerable buzz amongst Spurs fans. His integration into the team and impact on the pitch will be keenly watched in the coming months.
