MAN councillors instructed to attack PAS
Eugenia Ceban, the mother of Chișinău Mayor Ion Ceban, was caught on video instructing MAN councillors to attack the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) at every council meeting.
The video, which was posted on Telegram by journalist Dumitru Ciorici, was quickly deleted from the Chișinău City Hall's Facebook page.
The municipality has been holding consultations on a proposal to raise local taxes by 6% in 2024. Several sessions have been held with the Romanian Investors Association, transportation and infrastructure officials, and city councillors.
At a meeting of the National Alternative Movement (MAN), Eugenia Ceban gave her fellow MAN councillors some informal advice.
"Dear MAN colleagues, we don't know each other yet, but I beg you, from the beginning of the year, understand that we are all preparing to attack PAS at every decision project. We came, we shut up, and we voted," she said.
Contacted by Moldova 1, PAS councillor Zinaida Popa said that MAN councillors have come to the council only for scandal and politics. Popa urged Ceban and MAN councillors to stop boycotting council meetings and get to work.
PAS and MAN are in conflict and accuse each other of populism.
