Moldova Parliament to convene special session for urgent bills

The Standing Bureau of Moldova's Parliament will decide today on a proposal for an extraordinary session next week, January 17-18.

Speaker Igor Grosu, pushing for swift action, says "addressing urgent issues crucial for Moldova's development" necessitates the special gathering.

The proposed agenda prioritises legislation related to institutional integrity assessment, judicial reform, electoral law revisions, and political party regulations. Grosu also highlighted the need to prioritise "socially, economically, and politically critical bills" demanding immediate adoption and implementation.

Such extraordinary sessions can be called by the President, Parliament Speaker, or one-third of the legislature's members when Parliament is not in regular session. Ordinarily, Parliament meets in two annual sessions: February-July (spring) and September-December (fall).
