A Moldovan, detained for organizing illegal migration
A Moldovan, who would be a member of a criminal group specialized in the organization of illegal migration, was detained while providing transport on the territory of the Republic of Moldova for two Ukrainian citizens who crossed the state border clandestinely. The Ukrainians had to pay 5 thousand US dollars each.
According to the Border Police, the case happened on January 17, in the north of the country. The two citizens of Ukraine were spotted in the Moldovan's car.
The 60-year-old man, originally from the Rîscani district, was detained for 72 hours and placed in the preventive detention cell of IP Edineț, and the means of transport was made unavailable at the headquarters of the Directorate.
If found guilty, the suspect risks deprivation of liberty for a period of 3 to 7 years.
