Maia Sandu reiterated the commitment for the temporary protection of refugees, according to European standards
President Maia Sandu had a meeting today with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Filippo Grandi, who is visiting our country, the Presidency informs in a press release. During the discussions, the head of state thanked for the support provided in the management of the humanitarian crisis, with the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
Maia Sandu mentioned that the Republic of Moldova showed its solidarity with the Ukrainian citizens who took refuge in our country and also reiterated its commitment to the temporary protection of refugees according to European standards.
During the meeting, according to the Presidency, the head of state emphasized the importance of supporting the Republic of Moldova, which is essential both for the integration of Ukrainian citizens in the Moldovan society, including the labor market and in the educational system, as well as for the continuation of modernization efforts, economic development and accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
