Erling Haaland named men's player of the year at Globe Soccer Awards
Erling Haaland of Manchester City has been named the Men's Player of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards, which were held in the United Arab Emirates.
The Norwegian striker received the most votes from the European Club Association.
Haaland received his award at the lavish gala in Dubai.
"I play for a fantastic club, and everything I have achieved is with the support of the club's management and the technical staff. The Champions League is my favourite, and when I won the trophy it was a dream come true," said footballer Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian had a sensational year in 2023, winning all major trophies with Manchester City, including the Champions League, the FA Cup, and the Premier League title. He was also the top scorer in the previous edition of the Champions League.
Also at the Globe Soccer Awards, Josep Guardiola was named Manager of the Year, and his team, Manchester City, was named Team of the Year.
At the same gala, the famous Cristiano Ronaldo also won awards. The Portuguese won awards for Best Player in the Middle East, the Globe Soccer Maradona Award for the most goals scored in a calendar year, and the Fans' Player of the Year.
Aitana Bonmati, a member of Barcelona and the Spanish national team, was named the Best Female Footballer.
