Denmark expands diplomatic reach with Moldova embassy opening

In a significant diplomatic move, the Kingdom of Denmark is set to open its embassy in the Republic of Moldova, marking a crucial step in fostering political, economic, and cultural ties.

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place today at the Palace of the Republic, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE).

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, is expected to be present in Chisinau today for the inauguration ceremony, following an invitation from his Moldovan counterpart, Nicu Popescu.

Ministers Nicu Popescu and Lars Løkke Rasmussen will hold a press conference at the MAEIE headquarters later today.

MAEIE emphasised in a statement that the symbolic embassy inauguration ceremony will commence on January 25th at 3:00 PM at the Palace of the Republic.

Recalling the November announcement by Danish authorities about the opening of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Chisinau in early 2024, MAEIE highlighted the diplomatic mission's pivotal role in fostering and strengthening political, economic, and cultural connections between the two nations—a message conveyed by Nicu Popescu to his Danish counterpart.
