Prime Minister Dorin Recean's announcement regarding the chief negotiator of the Republic of Moldova for EU accession

Cristina Gherasimov will be the chief negotiator in the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. This was announced on Saturday, January 27, by Prime Minister Dorin Recean in a video.

We mention that on Wednesday, January 24, during the Government meeting, Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced that Cristina Gherasimov was appointed Minister of European Affairs without portfolio.

On the same day, the Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu resigned, and the Vice President of the Parliament Mihai Popșoi was appointed to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

For now, the Government has not approved a decision regarding the modification of the Executive's organization chart.

We mention that Cristina Gherasimov graduated from the Faculty of International Relations at the State University of Moldova. Later, she did a master's degree at the University of Wroclaw in Poland and another one at the European Institute for Advanced International Studies. She also did his PhD in Political Science at Rutgers University in the US.

Cristina Gherasimov held several positions in international institutions and at Rugers University. Between January and October 2021, she worked as advisor to President Maia Sandu in foreign policy and European integration.
