Moldova prepares for cabinet reshuffle, new European integration role

Moldova's Parliament convenes today, Thursday, to weigh a proposed reshuffle of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The plan entails streamlining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) into a dedicated Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE). Meanwhile, the State Chancellery's Bureau for European Integration would assume responsibility for European integration efforts.

Adding a new layer, the proposal introduces the position of Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, holding no specific portfolio.

Furthermore, Parliament anticipates approving the resignation of Vice Speaker Mihai Popșoi and appointing Doina Gherman as his successor.

These changes necessitate restructuring the Parliament's Permanent Bureau and Permanent Committees due to Olesea Stamate's resignation from the Chair of the Legal, Appointments and Immunities Committee.
