Weather was abnormally warm at the beginning of January
The weather dung the first ten days of January was abnormally warm and with a lack of adequate precipitation. According to specialists, the weather conditions in the period were satisfactory for winter crops and multiannual plantations, IPN reports.
The State Weather Service said the average air temperature in the period was +2.4..+5.9°C, being by 5.4-8°C higher than the norm. On 50% of the country’s territory, such a situation was witnessed for the first time during the observation period, while on the rest of the territory it can be seen once in 20-30 years on average.
The highest air temperature climbed to +16.5°C, at the weather station in Bravicea on January 1. Such highs in January are recorded once in 20-30 years. The minimum air temperature declined to -5°C, at the weather stations in Soroca, Camenca, Rybnitsa etc.
Precipitation during the first ten days of January totaled 1-8 mm (10-55% of the norm), at the weather station in Chisinau being 10 mm (85% of the norm).
Snow fell only in parts of the country and the layer of snow was thinner than 1 cm. There was fog and the wind intensified to 18 m/s.
