Mihai Popșoi: The Transnistrian region must be drawn into the constitutional field of the Republic of Moldova with all the economic advantages
The Transnistrian region must be drawn into the constitutional field of the Republic of Moldova with all the economic advantages, said Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi in an interview for Digi24.ro.
According to the diplomat, a good part of the citizens understand that the future of our country is in the European Union, where there are much greater economic opportunities.
"We offer more and more services to our citizens on the left of the Nistru and, step by step, we will introduce the region on the left of the Nistru into the constitutional field of the Republic of Moldova so that they too can benefit from the accession process, but of course, step by step , with the reintegration of the country. Now there will be much greater economic opportunities. The commitment of the Russian Federation assumed at the OSCE Summit in Istanbul in 1999 is not respected and implemented even today, but the citizens, a good part of them, if you have the opportunity to go and ask them, very many of them understand that the future of the Republic Moldova is in the European Union", declared Mihai Popșoi.
With the entry into force of the new Customs Code of the Republic of Moldova, on January 1, 2024, the so-called authorities on the left of the Nistru are beginning to realize that there will be further legal additions to the legislation of the Republic of Moldova that will homogenize the rights and obligations of individuals and legal entities on both banks of the Nistru, claims the analyst from Bucharest Laurentiu Pleșca.
We remind you that the Chisinau authorities have repeatedly stated that the government's priority is to bring the Transnistrian region into the legal field of the Republic of Moldova. The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, said that there is no longer an interdependence between the process of European accession and that of reintegration, and the perception of the European Union towards the accession aspirations of the candidate states, in the absence of a definitive solution to the conflicts on their territory, has changed.
Previously, President Maia Sandu said that in the next few years there will be a "geopolitical" chance to solve the Transnistrian conflict, but if this does not happen, the Republic of Moldova could enter the European Union first with the right bank of the Nistru, then with the left one.
