Strong fire at a Christian center in Hîncești district
A strong fire happened on the evening of Tuesday, February 6, at a Christian center in Mereșeni, Hîncești district. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), the fire destroyed an area of about five hundred square meters, where several material goods were located, and the roof of the building was partially damaged.
To extinguish the fire, eight emergency vehicles with a team of 30 rescuers were sent to the scene.
"Thanks to the operative intervention of the firefighters, more than 1,800 square meters of the total area of the affected building were saved, as well as the conference hall with a capacity of about 1,200 people. The IGSU employees succeeded in locating the fire at 11:43 p.m. and extinguishing it completely at 02:35 a.m.", reads a statement of the quoted source.
According to the IGSU, the fire allegedly broke out due to a short circuit in the ventilation system. All circumstances are to be determined by specialists in the field.
