Suspected case of measles in Chisinau. The 6-month-old child of a family from Ukraine, hospitalized in intensive care
The five-month-old child suspected of being infected with measles is from a family of refugees from Ukraine. The announcement was made by the deputy head of the Medical and Social Assistance Department of the Chisinau City Hall, Vladimir Bolocan, during the weekly meeting. According to him, the little patient is hospitalized at the "Toma Ciorbă" Municipal Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases and receives the appropriate treatment.
"We have another suspected case of measles in a child of a refugee family. At the moment, the child born in 2023 is hospitalized at the "Toma Ciorbă" Municipal Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases. Also, through the family doctor in the Botanica sector, we try to monitor the health of the parents. They did not present data on measles vaccination. We are waiting for the confirmation of this disease", said Vladimir Bolocan.
The official urges parents to vaccinate their children against measles.
We remind you that on Friday, February 9, the National Public Health Agency reported a new case of measles registered in a five-month-old child from Chisinau. The child and his parents were in Romania between January 11-24. He has not been vaccinated against measles because he has not reached the age eligible for vaccination.
