Respiratory Illnesses Top Moldova Emergency Concerns

Moldova's National Center for Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Assistance (CNAMUP) reported a significant increase in emergency calls over the past week, exceeding 17,000.

Respiratory Emergencies Dominate:

Respiratory illnesses led the way, with 44,518 calls, including 2,529 cases of acute viral respiratory infections. "The most common types of emergencies were respiratory," confirmed CNAMUP.

Other Major Concerns:

Cardiovascular emergencies followed closely with 3,896 calls, including 54 patients experiencing acute coronary syndrome. Neurological emergencies also posed a significant concern, with 2,091 calls and 239 cases of stroke.

Trauma and Environmental Emergencies:

Trauma emergencies resulted in 1,050 calls, with 36 individuals injured in traffic accidents. "Thirty patients, including four minors, were transported to hospitals for specialised treatment," detailed CNAMUP.

Additionally, 44 calls involved physical, chemical, and environmental agents, with 20 individuals suffering burns, seven experiencing hypothermia, and one case of frostbite. Furthermore, 35 calls concerned various types of toxic emergencies, leading to 14 cases of medication poisoning and seven cases of alcohol intoxication.

Hospitalisation Rates:

Following assessments, 6,552 patients were transported to hospitals for further care.
