Moldova, Romania Discuss Next Steps in EU Integration Journey

Moldova and Romania held consultations regarding the next steps in Moldova's path towards European Union (EU) membership.

The discussions, held in Bucharest, involved Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov and Romanian Foreign Minister Luminița Odobescu.

The meeting focused on leveraging Romania's experience in the EU accession process to facilitate Moldova's progress. Ms. Gherasimov emphasised the value of Romania's support, stating, "We are grateful for Romania's unwavering support for Moldova's European aspirations. Their experience is invaluable to us, and we are committed to strengthening cooperation in this area."

Minister Odobescu reiterated Romania's firm stance, confirming, "Romania remains a steadfast supporter of Moldova's European path. We are committed to assisting Moldova in achieving its goal of becoming a member of the European Union."

The discussions outlined plans for enhanced cooperation between the Moldovan Bureau for European Integration and the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, alongside other relevant institutions involved in the accession process. Additionally, Ms. Gherasimov underscored the continued deepening of relations between Moldova and Romania, highlighting the importance of their shared language, culture, and history.
