Writer Mircea Cărtărescu was decorated with the "Order of Honor"

The writer Mircea Cărtărescu was decorated with the "Order of Honor" by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu. The presidential decree in this regard was signed on Wednesday, February 14, the National Reading Day.

"Mr. Cărtărescu is a true ambassador of Romanian culture. We are glad that he chose to come to Chisinau for the first time, together with his wife, the writer Ioana Nicolaie, on this symbolic day - the poet Grigore Vieru's birthday," said the Head of State.

According to the decree signed by the president of the Republic of Moldova, the order was granted to Mircea Cărtărescu "as a sign of high appreciation of his creative activity, for exceptional merits in the affirmation of Romanian literature in the world, as well as for a substantial contribution to the development and promotion of the cultural dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and Romania".
