Volodymyr Zelensky will attend the Security Conference in Munich
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will attend the upcoming Security Conference in Munich, where he will meet with the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris. The leader from Kiev first time takes part in person in this international event since the launch of the Russian invasion of Ukraine , almost two years ago, the White House announced, reports Agerpres.
At the event, which starts on Friday and is hosted by the Bayerischer Hof hotel in Munich, Kamala Harris will also meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Zelenskiy's in-person attendance at the Munich event, considered to be the most important international gathering of politicians and security experts, had been expected for some time but had not been officially confirmed.
At last year's edition of the conference, the Ukrainian president participated remotely, via video conference, at the event hosted by the Bavarian capital.
This will be Volodymyr Zelensky's second visit to Germany since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. In May last year, the Ukrainian leader visited the capital Berlin, where he met with Chancellor Scholz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and the city of Aachen (west), where he received the Charlemagne Prize.
About 50 world leaders are expected to attend the Munich Security Conference, including Israeli President Isaac Herzog, US Vice President Kamala Harris, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The governments of Russia and Iran were not invited to this meeting.
