Russia Cracks Down on Protests Marking Navalny's Death
Russian police have forcibly dispersed gatherings marking the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
The human rights website OVD-info reports at least 100 arrests in eight cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Krasnodar.
Footage from Moscow and St. Petersburg showed officers tearing down protesters' placards and dragging individuals away from makeshift memorials to Navalny. Journalists were also detained on camera.
"'Everything happening in my beloved country these past years is a disgrace,' one woman told Sky News.
Another person added: "I am angry, of course. They finally killed him."
Despite police providing no details on arrests, prosecutors previously warned Russians against participating in any mass protests in Moscow.
