Marko Shevchenko: Ukraine must return to its 1991 borders

The main goal of Ukraine is for the country to return to the state of normality, within the borders of the 1991 border. A statement to this effect was made by the ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova, Marko Shevchenko, in the show “Dimensiunea diplomatica” on Moldova 1 TV.

"The attempted annexation of Crimea, the annexation of some regions of Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporozhye, we believe that these changes must be repaired, we must return to the state of normality, within the borders of 1991. This is the main target of Ukraine, which all Ukrainians want to see it in the near future. It is a difficult task, we have to work hard, to defend our country, but we are determined to resist. Why did Putin start this war? Because he thinks based on the concepts of the 18th-19th centuries, when the main stake was the territories", said the ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova, Marko Şevcenko.

We remind that Russia annexed the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea in 2014, but the region is still considered by the United Nations to be part of Ukraine. Russia has also recognized declarations of independence by two self-proclaimed republics in eastern Ukraine, Donetsk and Lugansk, which started a secession struggle in 2014.

The two regions and the Crimean peninsula were part of Ukraine when it declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

We remind you that this February 24, it turns two years since the Russian armed forces launched a large-scale offensive against Ukraine, invading this country from several directions.
