Moldova, Ukraine Boost Border Security Cooperation
The heads of the Border Police of Moldova and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine signed a cooperation plan in Palanca.
The plan aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in combating cross-border crimes like illegal migration and smuggling.
The collaboration will focus on several activities to improve security on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border.
"The discussions covered coordination and information exchange for more effective border control. The importance of developing a common approach to risk analysis was also emphasised, with the aim of identifying and preventing threats to the security of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border," the Border Police said in a statement.
The heads of the two border authorities, Ruslan Galușca and Serhii Deineko, agreed to develop cooperation on the common border. They also analysed the activity of the joint border crossing points operated by the Moldovan and Ukrainian sides, including the joint patrolling activity and the results of these actions after their resumption at the border.
