Moldova Prosecutor Race: Iachimovschi Leads, Faces Integrity Check

Iachimovschi topped the competition with an 8.53 score, edging out interim Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu (8.16), Igor Demciucin (8.19), and jurist Eugen Coca (4.72).

The results followed Wednesday's interviews with all four candidates.

Next, Iachimovschi's file goes to the Pre-Vetting Commission, which will scrutinise his ethical, professional, and financial integrity.

The position opened after Alexandr Stoianoglo's dismissal by presidential decree following an unsatisfactory evaluation by a special CSP commission.

The March deadline for selecting the new Prosecutor General looms. Notably, Dumitru Robu and Ion Munteanu have held the interim role for the past two years.

Today, the electoral campaign begins for the participants in the constitutional republican referendum and the candidates for the position of president of the Republic of Moldova on October 20, 2024. According to the legislation, during the electoral campaign, political advertising is prohibited and only electoral advertising is allowed for candidates and referendum participants registered by to the CEC.

The finding was made after a delegation of APCE visited our country between September 17 and 18 and had meetings with several officials from Chisinau, as well as with representatives of the Central Electoral Commission.
