CUB Joins Political Bloc in Moldova Ahead of Elections

The Coalition for Unity and Welfare (CUB) has officially joined the Political and Electoral Bloc.

This decision follows discussions between CUB and the Bloc's existing members: the Dignity and Truth Platform Party (PPDA), the League of Cities and Towns (LOC), and the Party for Change.

The Bloc seeks to consolidate political forces ahead of future elections.

"We are united in prioritising the well-being of the population and the future of Moldova. By joining this bloc, we aim to strengthen democratic institutions and ensure citizen well-being and stability," said Igor Munteanu, President of CUB.

Dinu Plîngău, President of the Dignity and Truth Platform, emphasised the Bloc's aims: "This open and transparent political force will promote a thriving private sector, eliminate competition barriers, and align the path to EU membership with the needs of our citizens. We will support entrepreneurship, lift rural communities out of poverty, and drive sustainable economic development for the benefit of all Moldovans."

"We demand that the current government abandons its unprofessional administration of the state and its reliance on political loyalty instead of merit-based appointments. Transparency in the public budget, state aid, and procurement practices, including those funded by Europe, is essential. Systems built to benefit a political elite will only jeopardise Moldova's European future," said Ștefan Gligor, President of the Party for Change.

LOC co-president Alexandru Bujoreanu added, "It is time we provide ordinary citizens with protection against those who seek to exploit them. We must ensure a fair justice system within a free market economy where hard work is rewarded, no one is above the law, and politicians are accountable for their actions."

The Dignity and Truth Platform, the Party for Change, and the League of Cities and Towns announced their initial "political and electoral partnership" in late 2023, ahead of the 2024-2025 presidential and parliamentary elections.
