Farmers in Poland have been protesting throughout the month, claiming unfair competition from Ukraine and opposition to European Union environmental regulations. Protests have included blocking the Ukrainian border, obstructing highways, and dumping Ukrainian products from trains.

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister, Oleksandr Kubrakov, condemned the destruction as "irresponsible."

Poland's Agriculture Minister, Czeslaw Siekierski, acknowledged the protests are problematic but believes Ukraine's response has occasionally been excessive. Police are investigating the incident.
